Information
What is Hospice?
Hospice is a special way of caring for people who are terminally ill. The concept of hospice is to care for you and your family if you are terminally ill, not to cure your illness. Charity Hospice strives to eliminate or to at least control all symptoms associated with a terminal illness. Our main goal is to provide physical, social, spiritual and emotional comfort to our terminally ill patients so that they may live the remainder of their lives as fully as possible and, when the time comes, to have a dignified, natural and peaceful death.
Who is eligible?
A person of any age with a terminal illness who has a life expectancy of six months or less providing that the illness runs its natural course, and who:
Is no longer seeking curative treatment,
Agrees with the principles of hospice care,
Has a caregiver or can arrange for a caregiver when needed, Has a physician who will confirm their diagnosis and prognosis.
Charity Hospice will work with the patient’s physician to provide the highest quality care.
What is the Cost of Hospice Services?
Charity Hospice, Inc. is a non-profit organization and will not turn away any eligible patient for services due to a lack of finances.
All Hospice services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and many private insurance plans. Patients will be notified of their insurance coverage at the time of admission.
For patients without insurance coverage, Charity Hospice will discuss a possible fee schedule, which will be based on income. Families who are unable to pay will never be turned down for services.
Charity Hospice conducts multiple fundraising events throughout the year including our annual Spaghetti Dinner held each Spring, as well as our Fall Fundraiser usually held in October of each year.
